Jogos Desportivos Escolares 2013

Every year some elected schools from the Azores qualify to participate in a regional school sports competition. Corvo has got the unique possibilty to go every year since there is only one school on the island.

The schools meet on one of the islands and compete in several disciplines always including athletics and gymnastics as well as a choreography. Moreover the students compete in two ball sports. This year it was basketball and football.

On the foto you can see this years location, Escola Secundária Manuel Arriaga an amazing campus with everything a student or teacher, especially a PE teacher could wish for. So the conditions forpersonal bests were given.

The games are devided into two age levels. Corvo always particpipates in the games for the oldest students since there aren't enough students for the younger levels.
Every school nominates 10 girls and 10 boys to their team. We arrived with 8 girls plus 11 boys, one injured with a broken arm.
